GenoLens is intended solely for research and educational purposes. It is NOT a certified medical device, NOT a clinical decision support system, and must NOT be used as the sole basis for clinical diagnosis, treatment decisions, or patient care. Information provided by GenoLens is aggregated from public databases and may be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate. Always verify findings through certified clinical-grade systems and consult qualified healthcare professionals for clinical decisions.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using GenoLens (the “Service”), including the browser extension and web application, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
GenoLens is a browser extension and web application that provides genomic annotation lookups by aggregating data from publicly available databases. The Service allows users to highlight text on web pages and receive contextual information about genes, variants, phenotypes, and diseases.
3. User Accounts
Account creation is optional. If you create an account, you are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials.
- All activities that occur under your account.
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree NOT to:
- Use the Service for clinical diagnosis or patient care without independent verification through certified systems.
- Input patient-identifiable information or protected health information (PHI) into the Service.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the Service.
- Use automated scripts or bots to make excessive API requests.
- Redistribute, resell, or sublicense the Service without written permission.
- Use the Service in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations.
5. Intellectual Property
The GenoLens application, including its design, code, and documentation, is the intellectual property of GenoLens. The genomic data displayed is sourced from third-party databases, each with their own licensing terms. Users retain ownership of their query history and favorites data.
6. Data Accuracy Disclaimer
GenoLens aggregates data from third-party sources. While we strive to present accurate and up-to-date information, we cannot guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any data displayed. Data sources may update their records independently, and there may be delays in reflecting those updates in GenoLens.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, GenoLens and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:
- Clinical decisions made based on information provided by the Service.
- Loss of data or interruption of service.
- Inaccuracies in third-party data sources displayed by the Service.
- Any damages arising from unauthorized access to your account.
8. Service Availability
We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. Third-party API availability is outside our control.
9. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. You may delete your account through your account settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms, with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.
10. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users or through a prominent notice on the Service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
11. Governing Law
These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes arising from these terms or the Service shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation before pursuing formal legal proceedings.
